About Vaughan

Vaughan completed his medical degree at the University of Otago and his orthopaedic training in New Zealand, gaining his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2008. Vaughan then pursued further subspecialty training in hip and knee preservation and reconstruction through fellowships at the University of Toronto and the University of Zurich.

​Vaughan has a strong passion for orthopaedic outreach and humanitarian work. He co-founded a charitable trust to support better access to orthopaedic care across the Pacific. Through this work, and as a member of the Pacific Islands Orthopaedic Association, he regularly travels to teach and support orthopaedic teams throughout the region.

​He has also been part of international disaster response teams. In 2013, he worked with the Australian Medical Assistance Team in the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan, and in 2016, he was deployed to Fiji with the New Zealand Medical Assistance Team after Cyclone Winston.

​Outside of work, Vaughan enjoys running, golf, mountain biking, reading and hanging out with his family.
