OUTCOMES OF CEMENTED AND HYBRID TOTAL PRIMARY HIP REPLACEMENT IN OSTEOARTHRITIS
Amy Pearce
This PhD Thesis research will analyse surgical and patient-recorded outcomes in primary total hip joint replacement surgery for osteoarthritis in Aotearoa/New Zealand. Specifically, the research will analyse data collected by the New Zealand Joint Registry (NZJR) and the Tauranga Orthopaedic Research between 2005-2023.
The research objective is to determine the prosthetic combination with superior surgical and patient recorded outcome measures over 1, 5, 10, 15 years.
This research will identify specific components with superior outcomes and will provide valuable statistically significant evidence of ideal component use across various patient characteristics, surgical factors and resource factors. Alternatively, this study may identify subgroups with poorer outcomes where alternative interventions or further investigation may be recommended.
